Serendipity

 

It was the philosopher Epictetus who once said if you want to improve, be content to be thought foolish and stupid.

i am in my life long journey of self improvement. making a fool of myself countless of times and making stupid decisions that i know i will regret. the past few days have been tough. a result of a risk i took.

it was on one night, like any other night in my life that i said to myself the hell, i am going to ask him out. mustering enormous amount of courage i sent him a message. and its 5 days now i am still waiting for a reply.

i should be used to this. you know? rejection. i am starting to believe that i am in the wrong industry. i should have been an actor. at least, rejection would have felt like second skin. but here i am, losing a much needed sleep night after night. smoking cigarettes after cigarettes while i write this. still thinking and forming a perfect ending to my quest of love and life. a Korean drama series that i get to watch said ,can we love? to that i answer yes. definitely. without a doubt. love after all is innate. we love all the things we like. Loving is easy. Its second nature. but finding Love? Now, that's a different story.

many of us have thought about what the future holds. many of us have preconceived notions on that picture, and many of us have made a set like going to college, graduating, meeting someone interesting, making it work  but fails miserably, immersing one self in work and then finally in one of those nights or days, just like any other day in our lives you meet him/her. Then you start dreaming. Planning for not one but for two. And finally marrying that person and living happily ever after. Most would be content with this. Some lived for this fairy tale. Some, after many many years when they are gray and have the luxury of hindsight would not.

i believe that we only love once in our life. the belief of destiny, points only to one person we never stopped loving. they stay, like leeches in your brain. fighting  for dear life to hold on. time passes and we move on, or so we thought. until you see him/her again. they start to wreck havoc on your mind, on your being. and you start asking yourself, what went wrong? what could have you done differently? then you brush them off. convincing yourself that you have moved on. so you date. you try to meet other people. but you end up comparing that person to your 1st. and with sadness, they compare miserably. you start to devise a plan to relive everything. to have one more chance. but at the last moment you back out. finally admitting to yourself that you've had your chance and blew it. you just cant take the risk. you know that it will destroy you, your dreams and everything you have. you end up unhappy.

one might ask, what's the cause of our sadness, incontentment and misery? i have only one answer to this. It is ourselves. we go through our lives not knowing how to be risky. day after day we choose to be on the safe side rather than giving the unknown a chance. we stop ourselves in getting what we want because we know that getting something we most desire also means losing something that we have. somehow we convince ourselves that what we have is enough even though at the back of our minds we know, we could have been better. we could have done better, we could have been happier.

This isn't about love. its about choices. This is about taking risks. We must not dwell on what ifs and what could have been because if we do we are going to live a life of regret. I know it is easier said than done. Believe me, I know how to be scared or embarrassed. and its ok. Simon holt said If you don't learn how to be scared you'll never know how to be brave. and that's what we all need to do. to face every challenge head on. to face our fears so we may overcome the uncertainty. to ask questions we need answering and to gamble on fate and believe. Jump and let go. Be like Elsa.

I know I know, pasaway akez. matagal tagal ko na din  hindi kayo nabibisita. maraming nangyari. maraming marami mga mars! hindi ko alam kung saan sisimulan. basta ang knowsline ko lang ahmishyouall! nagiba ako ng workaloo kasi. kaya mejo busy busyhan ang lola nyo.

eniweys hayweys I made so many friends in the last few months! bongga I know. nag beach pa kami at yung pinuntahan pa namin ang manager titarette ko. nakakaloka. naging straight ako for a small period of time! ahahahaha. nakakaloka!

may ka HOHOL at MOMOL na din ako! I am so happy! ako na! thank you! majubis pa din ako pero deadma na ganun na talaga yan. ang importante mas masaya ako. at ang gusto ko masaya din kayo.

Ubud, Bali

 

Ubud is a major Arts and Culture center in the island of Bali. Relaxed ang feel ng place. Very indie. Very provincial. Major characteristic ang rice paddies. Most daw ng tourist na pumupunta dito is in pursuit of art.

Nakakaloka.

In pursuit din ako hindi nga lang art, kundi jowa. hehehe.

syempre bet naming libutin ang buong ubud kung pwede lang kaya lang tamd kaming maglakad. sayang pa ang oras. so, we asked the frontdesk na I drop off kami sa Ubud Market.

Sa tapat nyan ang Ubud Palace.

working palace daw yan. Ubud’s royal family still lives there, pero ang courtyard ay open for all. Nung pumunta kami may funeral preparation.

Andaming ganap! kung anik anik ang ginagawa ng mga utaw la belles. Nakakaloka.

dahil feel na feel ko na turista ako mega picture ako ng mga kaganapan. aba , minsan lang makakapunta kailangang sulitin! May nageexplain ng mga kaganapan pero dahil nga may ADHD ako hindi ako nakinig. ahahaha. Ang naintindihan ko lang, depende sa kayamanan ng pamilya ng namatayan ang laki ng funeral prep. So, mag yamanyamanan lakilakihan ang ganap.

dahil sa wala naman akong kahilig hilig sa kape, pumasok kami. at eto ang bumungad sa amin

sa gilid nyan ang pinto ng starbucks at eto ang kanilang garden, kaloka. sa same compound may restaurant din pero hindi na namin inavail kasi may gusto kaming kainan. so nag dessert kami first.

Buti na lang nagdessert kami kung hindi mega bonggang gutom ang inabot namin dahil sa mahabang lakaran para makita namin ito. yun kasing pinagtanungan namin yung long way ang tinuro kaloka! ang m ga dinaanan namin parang maze! kami lang ang lumalakad sa daan. at day ang init ng araw! sa haba ng lakaran pumayat nga ako te! ahahahaha. Bonggang pawis ang aming inabot.

matagal tagal na kami sa indonesia, miss na miss na namin ang pork! bet na bet ko ng sumigaw ng babuyin nyo ako! pero alam kong walang magaavail! kaloka.

Lechon galore! Must daw ito pag pumunta ka ng UBUD. Mas masarap pa din ang lechon natin, Underwhelming for me ang Babi guling. halos lahat ng customer dun foreigner, syempre avail naman kami! ahahahaha. kailangan lumevel! ganyan! hindi daw yan ang original na restaurant lumaki na lang dahil sa dami ng turistang nagaavail ng babi guling. taray no? binaboy ang kapalaran!

Kopi Bali

 

after check in, we decided to explore around UBUD. Walkable naman halos lahat sa lugar na ito. Plataran is just a stone throw away from Ubud’s Monkey Forest.

yan ang street to Monkey forest. oo, maraming monkeys at hindi ako faney nila. nabasa ko kasi na may nangyaring incident na nangagat ng tourist ang isang unggoy. hindi ko bet yun. sana kung ang kakagat sa akin si edward, BET! kahit na sipsipin nya ang lahat ng kaduguan ko sa aking magandang katawan go! yan ang commitment. ahahaha.

Medyo mahabang lakaran ito, and since burgers lang ang lunchey namin, we decided to look for a good place to eat. at napadpad kami sa Kopi Bali.

 

Maraming foreigner ang lumalaps dito so gumora kami. and we ate Nasi goreng with shrimps and satay. at dahil health is wealth and cleanliness is next to Godliness, I ordered a lemonade. Masarap, malaki ang servings but mahal! Tourist destination ang buong Ubud so, medyo pricey talaga sya. Even the souvenir shops along the road, mahalya!

syempre, mawawala ba ang kape? I ordered a nice tall glass ng iced cappuccino caramel. refreshing, sweet and sulit naman for the price.

habang kumakain kami, napansin namin na ang katabi naming table. magjowa, at wagas gumaya ng order namin. so deadma, mas marami akong concern at that time. dumating na ang foodang namin, so we started eating. si kuya foreigner started eating her girlfriends face! OMG. huminto ako sa pagkakasubo,

The Plataran Experience

 

Madali akong nakita ng aking mga amiga. Eto ang suot ko.

kahit na ilang kilometro pa sila makikita nila ako. nagniningning ako ng oras na yun.

promising ang paglabas ng Bali Airport. Andaming AFAM! win! agad agad may napipick up na ang aking radar! but before any of that, kailangan naming kumain. so gora kami sa sobrang indo native fastfood. ang BURGER KING. ke haba ng pila! nakakaloka! natanong ko sa sarili ko, Ngayon lang ba sila nakakatikim ng burger? or french fries? ahahaha. CHAROT lang Indo friends. Tinanong ako ng crew, whats your order? sabi ko, wait, im so hungry I can eat you, your friends and this whole restaurant! whopper meal pls. ahahahaha.

pagkatapos kunin  ang order, we were whisk away sa isang toyota innova na may name ng hotel. I must tell you dears na hindi ako nag research ng hotel. kaibigan ko ang nag arrange ng lahat. game naman ako sa lahat kaya keribels, ready ako sa lahat.

BUT, I was not ready for this. I was not ready for Plataran Ubud.

I felt belonged. but my clothes do not. ahahaha. This resort is fairly new. They are still constructing the other parts. Expansive ang lobby, full of natural light. Pagdating namin, may I offer sila ng cold wet towels at welcome drink. The check in is quick and kahit na dumating kami ng maaga, they agreed to whisk us to our room.

whisk is my favorite word nowadays. baklang bakla! panalo! let me whisk you to the continuation of the story.

Plataran is a luxury hotel. think Aman group yan ang kalevel nya. Pero ang Plataran ay homegrown. purely indonesian itez. They have hotels in major tourist destinations like Yogjakarta, Jakarta and Komodo Island. They also have boats, ships na you can charter. Having this in mind. I expected more from them. Katulad ng Welcome drink. salak soda, acquired taste ito. not everybody will appreciate. Ako wit ko bet. Maasim ng severe, carbonated at may bitter aftertaste. wala akong masabi sa surroundings. Very indonesian. ang feel na peg nila ay balinese garden with modern comforts. maganda ang interiors at well thought out ang plan ng buong resort. the resort is tranquil, idyllic for honeymooners. The staff are attentive and they greet you everytime they see you, may it be good morning, good afternoon and good night. toroy! parang Truman show lang ang peg!

plus points sa akin ang magandang bed at ang bed nila is too die for! very comfortable, just the right softness.

Yes, palayan levels ang peg. BTW, this is UBUD. dito daw nagshoot ng Eat Pray Love si Julia Roberts.

As you can see, every corner of the resort is pretty. Great attention to detail. But there are also small things that they quite missed. Every luxury resort I stayed in laging may free slippers. Like sa Amanpulo, they give their guests Havianas na may Aman logo, sealed and brand new. Sa plataran meron din pero think abacca slippers. The choice is not the issue here. I actually commend them for choosing a natural material as it is consistent with the brand. What I cant get is why its not sealed. and when I tried the slippers parang ginamit na ng 5 tao. bukol bukol sya mga te! I should know kasi flat footed ako. Theres also incomplete toiletries. Walang toothpaste at toothbrush nakakaloka! buti na lang may baon kami. Theres also NO functioning bar. so yung mga guests na gustong magnomnom kailangan pang umalis at maghanap ng bar. Hindi rin sila attentive sa house keeping. In Discovery shores, kuamain ka lang ng breakfast pagbalik mo ayos na ang lahat. in Plataran, we did not experience that. We atleast expect na sana kinuha nila ang baso na pinaginuman namin but no, walang kumuha. To be fair merong fruit basket na mini size sa room but, the quality of the fruits are like SM bonus levels. Over riped bananas, ganyan. as for the food, they have very limited breakfast choices. I mean, for the price of the room or villa, one would expect a buffet breakfast right. Well, walang ganun. It’s a sit down breakfast. at meron yata silang 5 choices lang.  Mega fail ito for me. Kasi over prced na nga hindi pa spectacular ang lasa.

I hope the admin of Plataran Ubud, will change all of that. I know that their target market is the people who have money to blow $200 a night minimum, these people are very discerning. And Im sure gusto din nila na sulit ang binabayad nila.  If they are consistently missing on the small  things, baka maghanap ng ibang hotel ang guests.

Bali Prelude

 

Bali.

Pangarap lang yan dati. Parang pagkakaroon ng jowa. Posible pero mahirap marating.

Budget wise, hindi mura sa Bali. Pero it did not stop me  from wishing, kailangang maging reality ito. So, I started na magipon. kumonti ang kapeng iniinom ko. Nabawasan ang pagkain sa labas. Hindi na din ako lumalabas kasama ang ibang kaibigan for a night out. In short naging boring ako. ahahaha. Pero MUST ito. sabi nga ng isang kaibigan, Lahat ng tao may isinasakripisyo. at eto ang sa akin.

Matapos ang Yogjakarta, gumising kami ng pagka aga aga dahil sa maagang flight papuntang Bali. 6am ang flight mga te! napaka unforgiving ng oras na yan! maga maga pa ang fez namin kumembot na kami sa Airport.

Ang Adisutjipto Airport sa Yogja ay parang Kalibo Airport lang. Provinvial ang dating. walang yosi area! nakakaloka. at ang matindi nito konti lang ang choices pagdating sa foodang. Pero dahil papunta na ako sa aking pangarap, that did not faze me. Ang hindi ko matake eh ang madelay ang flight ng mahigit isang oras! jeskelerd! Ok sana kung may gwapo pero wala mga te! WALA! may shortage yata ng araw na yun! mabaliwbaliw akong naghintay. wala na akong magagawa sa mga fez ng mga tao dun. ahahahaha.

And finally tinawag na ang flight ko! Napasigaw ako. OO, narelive ko ang moment n g pumasok ako sa top 10 ng Miss Universe! Nag trot na ako papunta sa chenes. umakyat ng eroplano at umupo sa aking upuan. Mayamaya may biglang kumalabit sa akin. Foreigner, may hitsura. TYPE!!!! sabi nya Excuse me? sabi ko Yes? bigla syang lumuhod, OMG!!! ang bilis bilis ni koya! MAGPROPROPOSE NA AGAD!  may dinukot sa kanyang bulsa. JESKELERD hindi ako FREFARED!!!!!!

nakangiti nyang sinabi na You are in my seat sabay tali sa kanyang sintas. Pakshet! ang shunga ko lang! so I excused myself at umupo sa tamang upuan sa likod lang nya. Ang shungaers lang talaga. pagkaupo ko biglang tingin nya sa akin, hindi na ako nag assume so I just gave him my sweetest smile. ahahahahaha.

after sometime I think mga one hour nasa BALI na ako! gusto kong mag pirouette sa tuwa! dali dali kong kinuha ang aking hand carry at naghintay sa aking check in baggage. nag makuha ko na ang mahiwagang bagahe nagslide na ako papunta sa exit, ng malapit na ako sa exit bigla akong tumalon and I gave everybody a combination. triple toe loop and triple flip. Yes, ako ay isang world champion figure skater/beauty queen. CHAROT! ahahaha. and then I realized, ASAN ANG MGA KASAMA KO?

ang sabi ko sa friends ko I will write this part of the trip in english, HINDI KO KAYA! ahahaha. so back to regular programming! ang totoo naisulat ko na sya pero habang binabasa ko ng paulit ulit parang walang character. I lost myself ganyan ang peg! ahahaha. so, fail yun ng bongga. ginagawa ko naman ito para sa akin. kung may magbabasa well and good. kung wala, well, well, well, basahin nyo to pls! ahahahaha.

after traipsing Prambanan. rest rest muna kami sa hotel. at dahil sa kagustuhan naming tumambay we went out in search of a coffee shop. at dito kami napunta.

the vibe of the place is very indie music/art scene ganyan. may pagkarustic ang dating. the menu is very simple and enough. family owned ito, half ng bahay nila yung coffee shop. para syang shop sa cubao x.

that screen shows foreign indie films.

eto ang order ko.

iced café latte. one of the best coffee na natikman ko sa indonesia and so cheap! I think around Php 40 lang. nakadalawa ako nyan! ahahaha pag bet mo pa just ring the bell at paparoon na ang server sa table nyo. 

whats really good is they make you feel welcome. bibigyan kayo ng libreng nilagang mani while waiting for your orders. nung second time kong pumunta may free na sweet bread. hoping lang ako na sana mas maraming pastries. the hot coffee naman is strong and robust and locally grown. so alam nyo na fresh lahat. and the artwork na nakasabit sa mga dingding are for sale. so pag may bet kayo just ask for the price and haggle.

for very good coffee and relatively cheap prices I will definitely recommend this place artists will love this place.

Mendut and Prambanan

 

so after ng pagkembot namin ng aking amiga sa Borobodur. Prambanan temples naman ang aming kinareer! on the way there may small temples and and a monastery na nadaanan namin inavail na rin namin ito kasi kelan pa ba kami makakabalik right? or left? ahahahaha.

Open naman sa public ang monasery gardens pero dahil sa UNFORGIVABLE ang init nung petsa na yun hindi na kami pumasok. that’s the mendut temple.dahil sa hindi ako nakikinig sa guide hindi ko alam yan, ahahahaha. kaloka. Charot lang syempre. Mendut is older than Borobodur. tapos may 3 statues sa loob. chaka ang lighting kaya wit picture. sa walls nya children stories. this temple is also a working temple kapag Waisak day dumadayo ang mga buddhist dito.

from here ang Prambanan Temples ay mga 2hours away! nasa kabilang dulo sya ng Earth! kaloka!

Nearer sa Jogjakarta City center, in fact may bus station na dumadaan sa harap ng entrance ng Prambanan courtesy of Transjogja.

Just like Borobodur, Iba din ang entrance ng mga Foreign Visitors. may pakape at water din. sosyal! Tumanggi na kami sa tour guide wrong move kasi mas maganda kung may nageexplain ng mga bagay bagay.

May restoration chuchu din sila like Angkor. Pero mas makupad ang development.

Isa sa mga minor temples.

Napakaganda ng temple complex na ito. my pictures doesn’t do any justice on how ornate the walls area. both inside and outside the temples.

dahil malaki ang complex na ito meron silang tram service. kapag Foreigner free pag local may bayad ng veryvery light. iikot kayo ng tram sa buong complex.

Heto ang Royal Palace sa loob ng Prambanan. Yung majubis na statue hindi po ako yun. guard daw yun.

enjoyable ang Tram ride. kasi kung nilakad namin yan im sure baldado na ako pagdating sa hotel.

it also doesn’t hurt na maganda ang place. I would go back here compared sa Borobodur.

Iba ang charm nito. pagod lang kami ng severe kaya hindi na namin na avail lahat ng pwedeng gawin. sulit na din for the price kahit na on the expensive side sya.

MISS PHILIPPINES-EARTH 2014 “Reality in M.E.”- A Reality Show of MPE 2014

The Miss Philippines-Earth 2014 search has now begun and an exciting twist has been added to spice up this season’s quest for the crown!

This year’s theme for all Miss Philippines-Earth (MPE) events is “REALITY IN M.E.” The outline of the competition shall also give focus on a panel of judges composed of ex-beauty queens and industry experts who shall give their frank comments and advices to each candidate after their performance in every event. 

These comments shall be the eye openers for our beauty contestants to give them a chance to improve themselves in preparation for the final night. 

REALITY IN M.E. basically captures the reality in staging an MPE pageant. 

This is a timely and perfect way to follow the 50 gorgeous beauty Queens representing and promoting their home towns, allowing beauty pageant fans to get to know their favourite candidates and keep abreast with their eco warriors as they face various challenges in pre pageant competitions and activities. 

Among the events lined up this pageant season are the anticipated environmental events, Trivia Challenge, MakeUp Challenge, Catwalk Challege, Styling Challenge, Talent Competition, Swimsuit Competition, Cultural competition, Long Gown Competition, Fashion shows, and more. Borobodur

 

Nung planning stage palang ng trip na to. we decided to find a private car para we can go to Borobodur and Prambanan Temples  sa gusto naming time. but then, nagbago ang lahat ng pagdating namin dun. dahil sa bet naming lumandi ng slight at wala naman si Madam Stella Marquez de Araneta we decided to join  a tour group. Mas mura pa! so paylalu na kami sa hotel. since they do tours na din para hindi david hasslehoff!

Bumaba ako para magkape. libre naman kasama sa package ng room. kahit na maliit at not picture worthy ang hotel lahat ng staff babati sayo ng good morning. lahat may ngiti. galak na galak sila na andun kami.

pagkabigay ni ate receptionist ng kape tinanong nya ako, sabi nya breakfast? sabi ko naman, yes! just 1. sabi ni ate, only one? what about your wife? sabi ko kay ate: how dare you say that?! babae po ako! nililinlang ka lang ng iyong paningin babae po ako! sabay hagulgol sandal sa wall at dumausdos pababa slowly…biglang alis si ate kinuha ang aking foodang. windang sya mga te! eniweys, dalidali kong kinain ang Nasi goreng na bigay ni ate dahil anjan na daw ang sundo namin. tinawag ko na ang aking amiga at nagcatwalk papunta sa van. naisip namin yes! marami kami! van! sosyal! sabay ngiti ng pagkatamis tamis kay manong driver at sabi ng good morning! mabuhay from the pearl of the orient the Philippines! pagtingin ko sa loob, day! WALEY! WALEY tao! kami lang ng aking amiga! umakyat na kami sa van, pinaandar na ni kuya ang van at inayos namin ang aming mga tube. sabay tanong kay kuya, where are the other passengers? sabi ni kuya just the 2 of you! FAIL! sayang lang ang evening gowns namin at mook up! kaloka!

after 1 hour, nakarating na kami sa BOROBODUR. isa iteching UNESCO world heritage site.6  square platforms at 3 circular platforms ang babgtasin mo day. every platform tells a different story.

carvings sa gilid ng temple, east side. masunurin kami kaya EAST! this depicts the early life ng mga tao nakatira dun. it depicts how wordly humanity can be.
